Creating the Leadership Scholars Program

Through our new Leadership Scholars Program, the TFAS 50th Anniversary Liberty + Leadership Campaign will attract the most outstanding college students around the country by providing full-tuition scholarships.

Over seventy percent of our students rely on scholarship support to attend our programs. Each year, we have to turn away hundreds due to insufficient funding.

$12 Million toward this initiative will allow TFAS to:

Provide 1,200 full scholarships for our new Leadership Scholars Program to the best and the brightest students over the next five years.

Identify and recruit students with the talent and drive to become game changers in professions of public policy, journalism, law and foreign policy, utilizing our network of more than 1,000 free-market professors and more than a dozen partner youth organizations.

Arizona Supreme Court Justice Clint Bolick credits his TFAS Journey as a “career catalyst,” inspiring and assisting him as he pursued a profession in pro-freedom, constitutional law. "The Fund for American Studies is about human capital,” says Justice Bolick. “My experience in the summer of 1978 was foundational and transformational. I came to our nation’s capital committed to a career in politics and convinced that I was irredeemably ignorant of economics.” However, after a summer of interning on Capitol Hill and taking economics with beloved TFAS professor, Dr. George Viksnins, Justice Bolick said his belief in free-market economics was strengthened and his entire perspective altered. He decided to shift his focus from politics with “its endless shades of grey,” and instead pursued a career in constitutional law – a decision he reported to never regret, not even for a second.
